Scope: 1,200 Tonnes of structural steel
Project Name: Pan Am Hamilton Soccer Stadium
Project Owner: Infrastructure Ontario
Location: Hamilton, Ontario
In order to accommodate an easy transition of the facility from “games mode” to “legacy mode,” the designers incorporated a high level of flexibility with the overall design, including generators designed to cover additional loads during the games, and offices designed to be converted to media centers. The venue will become an integrated part of the community post Games and will be environmentally sustainable, designed and constructed to achieve a minimum standard of LEED Silver certification.
Fred Eisenberger, Mayor of Hamilton
"It is an honour for our City to host the TORONTO 2015 Games soccer competitions and we are just as pleased that this stadium will be a place where Hamiltonians will work, play and enjoy national and international events for many years to come.”
Built for the 2015 Pan Am Games, the field has now been renamed Tim Hortons Field. It is the new home of the CFL Hamilton Tiger-Cats and will be able to accommodate special events such as the Grey Cup. A portion of the facility will be opened to the local community for soccer training and other sporting activities.
